About Stone Folk of Ongeluksloot
The Stone Folk of Ongeluksloot is a permanent outdoor art installation of life-sized stone figures located on the Doornberg Farm, roughly 7 to 9 kilometres outside the village of Nieu-Bethesda in the Eastern Cape. Created by local artist Ryno Greeff, these figures are crafted from local stone and wire, appearing to emerge organically from the rugged Karoo landscape. Artistic Inspiration: The sculptures are inspired by the "Stone Men" found in Kaokoland, Namibia, as well as the "The Dance" installation by Marcella de Boom near Loxton. The "Tribe": There are currently approximately 10 figures positioned throughout the valley, with more planned for the future.
