Nieu-Bethesda, Eastern CapeThe Stone Folk of Ongeluksloot is a permanent outdoor art installation of life-sized stone figures located on the Doornberg Farm, roughly 7 to 9 kilometres outside the village of Nieu-Bethesda in the Eastern Cape. Created by local artist Ryno Greeff, these figures are crafted from local stone and wire, appearing to emerge organically from the rugged Karoo landscape. Artistic Inspiration: The sculptures are inspired by the "Stone Men" found in Kaokoland, Namibia, as well as the "The Dance" installation by Marcella de Boom near Loxton. Nieu-Bethesda, Eastern CapeThe Watermill in Nieu-Bethesda is a historic stone building dating back to 1860, originally part of the farm Uitkyk. Located on Pienaar Street (accessible via a suspension bridge opposite the Owl House), it remains a functional piece of history that continues to grind wheat into flour today. History: It was originally built by BJ Pienaar and owned by the Dutch Reformed Church. Its original wooden wheel was replaced with a more durable metal one in the 1860.
