About Wildside Hiking Trail
The Wildside Hiking Trail (also known as the Wild Side Walk) is a popular coastal route in Cape St Francis, Eastern Cape, known for its rugged shoreline, dramatic crashing waves, and historical shipwrecks. It is an easy to moderate out-and-back trail that offers some of the best sunset views in the region. Distance: Up to 9 km (total out-and-back), though many hikers choose a shorter 4.5 km return trip to the main landmarks. Difficulty: Generally Easy to Moderate, suitable for most fitness levels and families. Shipwreck of the HMS Osprey: About 1.5 km into the walk, you can see the boiler room of the Osprey, which was wrecked here in 1867.
