About Brandvlei Cellar
Brandvlei Cellar, commercially operating as BC Wines, is a South African wine producer established in 1955 and located on Doornrivier Road near the R43 route in the Worcester region of the Western Cape. Originally named Brandende Vlei after nearby thermal springs, the winery relocated to its current site in 1974 due to the expansion of the Brandvlei Dam. The winery processes approximately 28,500 tons of grapes annually from its member farms, utilizing a distinct terroir shaped by ancient Dwyka rocky formations to produce a diverse portfolio that includes Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, Shiraz, and premium labels like Halftien. Notably, it was the first producer cellar in the Worcester district to achieve Biodiversity and Wine Initiative (BWI) status, and its members collectively conserve over 8,000 hectares of indigenous natural veld. Today, the estate features a public tasting room open Monday through Friday and operates a private function venue capable of accommodating up to 80 guests for weddings and corporate events.
