Donkieskraal Lodge and Private Game Reserve
About Donkieskraal Lodge and Private Game Reserve
Donkieskraal Lodge and Private Game Reserve, also known as Donkieskraal Guest Lodge, is situated on a 2,000-hectare family farm in the Sandveld region near Leipoldtville in the Western Cape. The property is characterized by its sandstone rock formations, fynbos vegetation, and historical background as a refuge for livestock during the Anglo-Boer War.
Accommodation options include self-catering cave chalets built into natural rock formations with wood-fired hot tubs, a larger unit named Hendre's House for groups, safari glamping tents with private braai areas, and off-grid grass campsites. Activities on the reserve consist of guided game drives in a Unimog vehicle to view wildlife such as Eland, Gemsbok, Kudu, and Blue Wildebeest, walking trails to viewing sites containing ancient San rock art, a shared rock swimming pool, and seasonal West Coast wildflower viewing during August and September.
