The Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex is a maritime and cultural heritage site situated on the coastline of Mossel Bay. The facility commemorates the 1488 landing of the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias and preserves a life-size caravel replica that was sailed from Portugal to Mossel Bay in 1988. Its grounds feature the Post Office Tree, a 500-year-old milkwood tree used by early mariners to exchange letters, as well as a dedicated Shell Museum, an ethno-botanical garden, and the historic 1788 Dutch East India Company (VOC) granary.
