About Glentana Shipwreck

The Glentana Shipwreck refers to the remains of a massive floating dock (often called the "Port Natal") that ran aground on 1 November 1902. It was being towed from Durban to Cape Town by the steamer Baralong when a fierce gale caused the tow ropes to snap, leaving the 123-metre-long structure to drift onto the beach. Location: The wreck is situated along the coastline between Glentana and Mossel Bay. The Hike: A scenic 4km out-and-back trail starts at the parking area in front of the Visgraat Restaurant.
