About Roland Rudd Bird Hide
The Roland Rudd Bird Hide is a premier birdwatching destination located in Stilbaai (Still Bay). It is situated within the Skulpiesbaai Nature Reserve, specifically overlooking the final oxidation pond of the Stilbaai Waste Water Treatment Works. Originally established to provide a quiet vantage point for observing local waterfowl, the hide underwent a significant revitalization project in 2023–2024. It is an ideal spot to photograph the Purple Heron, Water Thick-knee, and African Darter. You can frequently see Little Grebes, Pied Kingfishers, and various ducks and terns.
