About Sunbird Centre
Sunbird Centre is a peaceful nature facility and environmental hub situated on Silvermine Road within the Silvermine Nature Reserve section of Table Mountain National Park. Located in a serene mountain valley at the western end of Kleintuin mountain, it serves as a prominent starting base for local ecological outings and wilderness excursions. The site is a renowned hotspot for regional bird-watching groups aiming to observe endemic mountain fynbos species like the Cape Sugarbird and Orange-breasted Sunbird. It also acts as the primary parking area and trailhead for the moderate 11 km Sunbird Centre - Old Wagon Trail Circuit loop, which rewards trail runners and hikers with scenic views of the Silvermine waterfall and the Atlantic coastline.
