The "Rhinosaur" is a permanent art installation on the Sea Point Promenade in Cape Town. Created by artist André Carl van der Merwe in 2014, it uses an anamorphic design to raise awareness about rhino poaching. Deconstructed Form: It consists of several flat steel plates scattered across the grass. The Viewfinder: You must stand at a specific viewing platform for the elements to align into a single image. Gun Crosshairs: The viewfinder is designed to look like rifle crosshairs, symbolising the threat of hunters. Symbolic Meaning: The "shattering" of the image represents the vulnerability and potential extinction of the species.
