About Old Cableway Station
The Old Cableway Station on Table Mountain refers to two distinct historic sites: the original industrial winch system used to build the mountain's reservoirs and the early iterations of the famous tourist cableway that opened in 1929. Long before the tourist cable car existed, an industrial aerial cableway was constructed in the late 1890s to transport materials for the Woodhead and Hely-Hutchinson Dams.
