Cobra Camp was a Forward Observation Post (FOP) and military installation established during World War II at Cape Point to monitor enemy warships and submarines. It is one of several wartime ruins located within the Table Mountain National Park, offering a mix of historical intrigue and rugged coastal scenery. Military Purpose: Built after 1939 when the area was cordoned off for exclusive military use, Cobra served as a strategic lookout point for South African forces. Codename: It was one of six FOPs on the peninsula, with others codenamed Vasco, Diaz, and Bosch. Access: Many visitors encounter the ruins while exploring hiking trails such as the one from Slangkop Lighthouse or those near Olifantsbosch.
