The Hottentots-Holland Mountain Catchment Area at MX63+57 Betty's Bay is a towering, environmentally vital wilderness zone that shields the coastal town of Betty's Bay from the interior. Forming a critical, pristine sector of the UNESCO-registered Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve Complex, this rugged alpine landscape is saturated with incredibly rare, hyper-diverse mountain fynbos species. The steep valleys and rock faces here act as a fundamental water catchment system, channeling fresh, amber-tinted mountain water down into local rivers and coastal estuaries.
