Mananga 4×4 Adventure Trail
About Mananga 4×4 Adventure Trail
The Mananga 4×4 Adventure Trail is an exclusive, 48-kilometre circular self-drive route located roughly 11 kilometres north of Satara Rest Camp in the central region of the Kruger National Park. This low-traffic wilderness track carries a difficulty grading of 1 to 3, typically requiring 4 to 6 hours to complete as it traverses knob-thorn and marula savannahs, sandy stretches, and minor riverbed crossings.
To preserve the delicate eco-system, SANParks strictly limits access to a maximum of six vehicles per day, which must be booked in person on a first-come, first-served basis at the Satara Rest Camp reception. High-clearance 4x4 vehicles are mandatory due to uneven terrain, and the trail may be summarily closed by the Section Ranger during heavy rains to prevent track erosion. Because the route completely lacks shops, toilets, or cellular reception, participants must be entirely self-sufficient, ensuring they depart before the 11:00 AM cutoff time with adequate water, food, navigation tools, and recovery gear.
