About Cape Vidal Lighthouse
The Cape Vidal Lighthouse, situated within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, is a distinctive 23-metre yellow concrete tower built in 1985. It stands approximately 64 metres above the high-water mark on a dense coastal dune, serving as a critical navigational aid for the treacherous waters where the ship Dorothea famously wrecked in 1898. Access: While the lighthouse tower and site itself are generally closed to the public, it is a popular landmark for those visiting the Cape Vidal resort area. Location: Found about 33 km north of the Bhangazi Gate near St Lucia.
