About Pretoria National Botanical Gardens
The Pretoria National Botanical Garden is a 76-hectare urban oasis in South Africa divided by a 35-metre-high quartzite ridge that creates two distinct microclimates. Managed by the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), it houses over 20,000 plant species, including a massive cycad collection and 50% of the nation's native tree species. The site features a natural waterfall, paved trails, and a wetland ecosystem that supports over 198 bird species. It functions daily as a scientific research hub and public park featuring restaurants, picnic lawns, and an outdoor structural art collection.
