Bedrogfontein Neck (or Bedrogfontein Pass) is a historic mountain crossing and 4x4 trail located within the Addo Elephant National Park in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It connects the lush Kabouga area near Kirkwood to the arid Darlington Dam region. The pass is most famous as a site of intense conflict during the Anglo-Boer War (1899–1902): Battle of Bedrogfontein: Boer forces, led by General Jan Smuts, ambushed British troops here. Tactical Feat: Despite being heavily outnumbered (250 Boers against 2,000 British), no Boer soldiers died in the battle, though hundreds of horses were lost. Etymology: The name Bedrogfontein translates to "Fraud Fountain," allegedly named after a local river that disappears underground.
