About Mzamba Suspension Bridge

The Mzamba Suspension Bridge is a 140-metre-long pedestrian bridge spanning the Mzamba River on South Africa's Wild Coast, connecting the Eastern Cape with KwaZulu-Natal. Completed in October 2015, the bridge was a community-driven project designed to provide safe passage for local residents who previously had to wade through the river to reach schools and medical facilities. Design & Construction: The bridge was designed by architecture students from Carinthia University of Applied Science (Austria) as a master's thesis, in collaboration with the non-profit buildCollective. Tourism: It is a popular landmark for hikers on the Mbizana to Port Edward trail and the Mtentu Ramble, offering views of the Mzamba River mouth and the Indian Ocean.
