About Karbonkelberg WWII Radar Station

The Karbonkelberg WWII Radar Station, also known as Fort Collins, was one of 15 secret coastal radar stations established in the Western Cape by South Africa’s Special Signals Services (SSS) during World War II. Located near the summit of Karbonkelberg in Hout Bay at an altitude of approximately 594 meters, the station served as a critical early-warning outpost for detecting enemy ships and submarines approaching Cape Town. - Historical
