About Witkruis Monument
The Witkruis Monument, also known as the Plaasmoorde Monument, is a memorial complex on the slope of Ysterberg along the N1 between Mokopane and Polokwane, South Africa. Established on June 16, 2004, it features thousands of white-painted metal crosses across 12 acres, each symbolizing a death in South African farm attacks affecting both white and black farmers. Of the roughly 3,000 crosses, 925 form a large central cross to highlight its Christian symbolism, while about 20 red crosses at the top mark local casualties.
