About Monument to 2nd Battalion (DCO)
The 2nd Battalion (Duke of Cambridge's Own) Middlesex Regiment was one of several British units that suffered heavy casualties on the summit. Inscription: The monument includes the biblical quote from 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought a good fight". Location on Battlefield: The battalion's primary fighting took place around Aloe Knoll at the eastern end of the crest, where they were thrust into the firing line to prevent a British collapse.
