About June 16 Memorial Acre
The June 16 Memorial Acre is an open-air historical site and museum in Soweto dedicated to the 1976 student uprising. Located at the intersection of Mputhi and Pula Streets in Central Western Jabavu, it sits directly across from Morris Isaacson High School, where students first began their march against apartheid education policies.
