About Paul Kruger Memorial

The Paul Kruger Memorial (also known as the Paul Kruger Statue) in Krugersdorp is located at the intersection of Begin Street and Paardekraal Drive in the Paardeplaats area. Historical Significance: The statue depicts Paul Kruger, the former President of the South African Republic (ZAR), and honors his frequent visits to Krugersdorp—the town named after him. Unveiling: The cornerstone of the pedestal was laid on 10 December 1961 by Jan de Klerk, and the statue itself was unveiled on 10 October 1962 by State President C.R. Swart. Sculptor: The memorial was created by the South African sculptor Laurika Postma.
