About Coalbrook Historical Hospital
The Coalbrook Historical Hospital, located in Holly Country near Sasolburg, was the primary medical facility for the Clydesdale (Transvaal) Collieries. Built in the early 20th century, it served the mining community and was a critical hub during the rescue efforts of the 1960 disaster. 1960 Disaster Role: During the catastrophic collapse on 21 January 1960, the hospital served as a staging point for medical teams and anxious families waiting for news of the 437 trapped miners.
