About Nelson Mandela Statue
The Nelson Mandela Statue in Bloemfontein is a majestic 8-metre-tall bronze sculpture located at the summit of Naval Hill. Unveiled in December 2012, it was designed by sculptor Kobus Hattingh and stands as a monumental tribute overlooking the "City of Roses". Symbolism: The statue depicts Mandela with his fist raised in the "Amandla" salute. It faces the Methodist Church in Waaihoek, the historic location where the ANC was established in 1912.
