About Anglo-Boer Blockhouse 2
The Anglo-Boer Blockhouse 2 (also known as the Brandwag or English Blockhouse) is a historic British military fortification located at 6 Fort Avenue, Burgersdorp, 9744, South Africa. It is one of two surviving masonry blockhouses that loom over the town, built circa 1900 during the Second Anglo-Boer War to protect strategic railway lines and bridges. Strategic Defense: Built by the British, these two blockhouses in Burgersdorp were designed to be "mutually supporting," meaning they could provide cover for each other if either came under attack.
