About St Blaize Hiking Trail
The St Blaize Hiking Trail is a dramatic and rewarding 13.5-kilometre point-to-point coastal route that contours the rugged, windswept cliffs between the historic Cape St Blaize Lighthouse in Mossel Bay and the coastal suburb of Dana Bay. Taking roughly 5 to 6 hours to complete one-way, this moderately challenging path offers an uninterrupted front-row seat to the Indian Ocean, making it a premier hotspot for spotting pods of dolphins year-round and whales during the calving season between June and December.
As you follow the iconic white stencils of the African Oystercatcher bird along the single-contour trail, the terrain transitions seamlessly from ancient archaeological caves into the manicured, world-class greens of the Pinnacle Point Estate. Because the trail is highly exposed to the elements with no natural shade or drinking water sources, hikers must come prepared with plenty of water, sun protection, and a pre-arranged return shuttle, while strictly adhering to safety guidelines by hiking in groups to navigate the uneven terrain and steep, unfenced drops safely.
