About Kom Walkway
The Kom Walkway on Lighthouse Road is a scenic coastal path in Kommetjie, best known for its well-maintained timber boardwalk that winds along the rocky Atlantic shoreline. It provides an easy, flat walk suitable for families, joggers, and dogs (on leads), leading directly to the historic Slangkop Lighthouse. The Route: Often called the Slangkop Boardwalk, it begins near "Die Kom" (the little bowl), a natural tidal basin that serves as the heart of the village. Distance: A typical out-and-back walk from the town to the lighthouse is approximately 5 km and takes about 30–60 minutes, though visitors often linger for photos.
