About The Washerwoman Historic Walk
The Washerwoman Trail (also known as the Washerwoman Historic Walk) is a fascinating route that explores the hidden histories of enslaved and freed women who washed Cape Town's laundry at the base of Table Mountain. 1800s, over 100 washerwomen—many of whom were emancipated slaves—carried heavy laundry bundles from the city center up to the mountain streams each morning.
