About Shelter Rock
The Shelter Rock Hiking Trail is a popular 8 km (out-and-back) mountain trail located on the southern slopes of the Magaliesberg in Hekpoort, Gauteng. Known for its rich history and panoramic views, the trail ascends approximately 400 metres to the mountain summit. Distance: 8 km total (4 km ascent, 4 km descent). Difficulty: Rated as Moderate to Strenuous; it is technical and rocky, requiring a reasonable level of fitness.
