About Brandwag Buttress Trail

The Brandwag Buttress Trail is a short, moderate 2.4 km to 3 km hiking loop located within Golden Gate Highlands National Park near Clarens, South Africa. It features an elevation gain of approximately 140 to 171 metres and typically takes 1 to 1.5 hours to complete starting from either Glen Reenen Rest Camp or the Golden Gate Hotel. The path is well-maintained and ends with a steep scramble assisted by a fixed safety chain, leading hikers to the top of an iconic sandstone cliff plateau that overlooks the surrounding valley.
