About MeerLICHT Telescope

The MeerLICHT Telescope is a robotic 0.65-metre optical telescope located at the South African Astronomical Observatory near Sutherland. Launched in 2018 through a South African, Dutch, and British collaboration, it features a 100-megapixel camera covering a 2.7-square-degree field of view. The instrument is permanently paired with the MeerKAT radio telescope array to simultaneously capture optical and radio data from transient cosmic events like supernovae and fast radio bursts.
