About Balule Private Game Reserve

Balule Private Game Reserve is a protected conservation area spanning over 50,000 hectares within the Greater Kruger bioregion in the Limpopo province. Established in the early 1990s through the consolidation of various private farms, the reserve dropped its fences with the Kruger National Park and neighbouring reserves to allow for the unhindered migration of wildlife along the Olifants River, which flows through the property for approximately 20 kilometres.

It is home to diverse ecosystems, including mixed woodland and savannah biomes, which support a wide array of fauna such as the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and African buffalo), wild dogs, cheetahs, and over 250 bird species. Management of the reserve relies on private landowners and eco-tourism lodges that operate regulated, open-vehicle guided safaris, enforcing strict rules regarding vehicle density and off-road tracking to protect the natural habitat.
