Roodewal Bush Lodge
About Roodewal Bush Lodge
Roodewal Bush Lodge is a secluded, exclusive-use wilderness camp managed by SANParks on the banks of the Timbavati River within Kruger National Park. The camp accommodates a single private group of up to 18 guests across one six-bed family cottage and three four-bed luxury bungalows, all of which feature en-suite bathrooms and ceiling fans. Guests share a central communal complex that includes a fully equipped kitchen with gas appliances, a dining room, a lounge, and a large outdoor boma for barbecues.
The camp's defining feature is an elevated, stilted viewing deck built around a Nyala tree that looks directly over the riverbed, providing prime viewing of passing wildlife. To maintain its remote atmosphere, the lodge operates off-grid with electricity limited to lighting and fans provided by solar power and a night-time generator; there are no electrical wall sockets, no Wi-Fi, and no mobile phone reception. Additionally, because there are no shops, restaurants, or check-in facilities on-site, guests must check in and collect keys at Satara Rest Camp located 44 kilometers to the south where they must also purchase all their fuel, firewood, and grocery supplies.
