Satara Rest Camp
About Satara Rest Camp
Satara Rest Camp is the third-largest rest camp in Kruger National Park, and is widely recognized as the park's "big cat capital" due to the high concentration of lions, leopards, and cheetahs in the surrounding area. Located in the flat, central grasslands of the park, the camp's fertile basalt soils support nutrient-rich sweet grasses, knob thorn, and marula trees, which attract large herds of plains game such as zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and waterbuck.
The camp offers a wide range of accommodation options, including 100 camping and caravan sites, standard two- and three-bed bungalows with either private or communal kitchens, multi-bedroom guest cottages, and luxury guest houses. Its extensive on-site facilities include a Cattle Baron restaurant, a deli, a well-stocked grocery shop, a petrol station, a swimming pool, and an outdoor multi-media auditorium. Satara serves as an ideal hub for wildlife viewing, positioned near popular game-viewing roads like the S100 river route and the S41, and it provides official SANParks-guided activities such as morning bush walks, sunset drives, and night safaris.
