About Letaba Rest Camp
Letaba Rest Camp is an established rest camp managed by SANParks, located on a sweeping bend of the Letaba River in the north-central region of Kruger National Park. The camp is highly regarded for its signature tall green tree canopy, which provides extensive shade, and its position overlooking a wide, sandy riverbed where wildlife like elephants, buffaloes, hippos, and waterbucks frequently gather. A central feature of the property is the Elephant Hall, an on-site museum open to visitors that details elephant biology and evolution while preserving and showcasing the actual, massive ivory tusks of Kruger's historical "Magnificent Seven" big tuskers.
Following the full restoration and re-opening of its flood-damaged perimeter structures and camping grounds, Letaba accommodates travelers across a versatile spectrum of infrastructure, including powered caravan and tent campsites, basic safari tents, rustic huts with communal facilities, and air-conditioned guest bungalows. The enclosed camp grounds also host a variety of resident wildlife, such as free-roaming bushbucks, tree squirrels, and fruit bats, while offering a fenced perimeter walkway for safe, elevated views of the riverbank ecosystems below.
