About Balule Satellite Camp

Balule Satellite Camp is an intimate, completely off-grid bush camp located in the central region of Kruger National Park along the southern bank of the Olifants River. Managed as a satellite of the larger Olifants Rest Camp, this small facility has no grid electricity and relies on gas geysers for hot water and paraffin lanterns for night-time illumination.

The camp is strictly closed to day visitors and features a rustic layout consisting of 15 unpowered camping sites and 6 three-bed budget huts (rondavels), all of which share a communal ablution block and an open-air cooking area equipped with gas ring burners and gas-powered freezers.

Because there is no reception office on-site, overnight guests must check in beforehand at either Olifants Camp, located 11 kilometers to the north, or Satara Camp, located approximately 45 kilometers to the south. The camp has no shops, restaurants, or fuel stations, meaning visitors must be fully self-sufficient or drive to nearby major rest camps for supplies and to join guided game drives or bush walks.
