About State Mines Country Club
State Mines Country Club is an 18-hole, par-72 championship parkland golf course located in Brakpan, Gauteng. It is widely recognized as a hidden gem in the East Rand region and is consistently ranked among the top 100 courses in South Africa. The course is celebrated for its excellent quality greens and scenic, tree-lined fairways. Initially commissioned in 1909 as a 9-hole recreational facility for the State Mines Gold Mining Company, it was later expanded into an 18-hole layout and majorly redesigned by renowned architect Rob O'Friel in 1970. It is one of only four premier championship courses in the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan area.
