About The Bushman Heritage Museum - Bethesda Arts Centre
The Bushman Heritage Museum (formerly the Bethesda Arts Centre) is a world-class community project in Nieu-Bethesda that preserves and celebrates the culture of the |Xam Bushmen. Founded in 1999, it serves as a space where descendants of the |Xam people reclaim their ancestral identity through contemporary art, primarily giant narrative tapestries and lino-prints. Tapestry Gallery: Guided tours of massive, hand-made tapestries that depict the creation mythology and ancient wisdom of the |Xam. Some of these works have been exhibited internationally at the British Museum and the Iziko National Museum.
